Hello, hello!
I’m Catherine, owner and designer of Jeweled Blossoms.
My Story
I took the long road to jewelry making. I tried to be normal, just like everyone else I knew. I started my collegiate education in Biology, spending long days and afternoons with dry textbooks filled with flow charts of metabolic cycles, DNA replication and organic chemistry molecules. I pipetted bits of this and that and found my heart was never really in it. I found I had always been in love with people and moved towards Sociology, where I worked with the local homeless shelters, wrote heaps of essays and counseled my peers. In the end, that too, could not satisfy me. I found a 9-5 job occupied my mind for a few hours of the day, but still I felt a thirst for something more – and one day I found it.
It’s the most gratifying thing, finding something, THE something you’ve been looking for without even knowing that you were looking for it. I make things now because it nourishes the part of me I ignored for so long. I make things because every girl deserves a bit of beauty in her life. I make things because I don’t think I could bear not making things ever again.
Inspiration & Mission
I have always, for as long as I can remember, been fascinated by people and relationships. I love all of the things that bring people from wildly different cultures, classes, and religions closer together and figuring out why certain things push us apart. I strongly believe in the importance of relationships – family, friends, significant others.
Jewelry can be the medium in which we express the meaning of our relationships to one another. Sometimes it can be a simply token of friendship, a proclamation of eternal love or the reminder of those that are lost to us. It’s a way of helping us to remember people, places and times in our lives in such a lovely, simple way. It can also serve to remind ourselves that we are beautiful or that we have overcome difficult moments in our lives.
I’m so grateful to be a part of these interactions. My greatest desire is that you find something in my shop that touches you, your experiences, or conveys a hope, a dream, a wish you want to give to someone close to you. That you find a piece that means something to you, as it meant to me in the making. I hope you find a bit of beauty you can carry with you through all your days.
